Solved unknown devices in WinXP SP3 OS on Dell Optiplex 755 pc (Rev: 1.0)


For Dell Optiplex 755 pc that runs Windows XP Professional SP3 Operating System (OS), if you encountered the below unknown devices in the Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager:
  1. PCI Serial Port
    (PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_29B7&SUBSYS_02111028&REV_02\3&172E68DD&0&1B)
    -> Under Chipset catalogue, please download and install the Intel Driver v3.2.20.1049 PV, A02 (Intel_AMT-SOL--LMS_A02_R255438.exe) or higher version that applies to Active Management Technology (AMT) Serial Over LAN (SOL) / Local Manageability Service (LMS).

    After installing, under the Device Manager -> Ports (COM & LPT), the "PCI Serial Port" will shown as "Intel(R) Active Management Technology - SOL (COM3)".

  2. PCI Simple Communications Controller
    (PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_29B4&SUBSYS_02111028&REV_02\3&172E68DD&0&18)
    -> Under Chipset catalogue, please download and install the Intel Driver v3.2.20.1049 PV, A02 (Intel_AMT-HECI_A02_R255437.exe) or higher version that applies to AMT Host Embedded Controller Interface (HECI).

    After installing, under the Device Manager -> System devices, the "PCI Simple Communications Controller" will shown as "Intel(R) Management Engine Interface".
